On November 6, Counterpoint Research released its Q3 2026 Global Memory Market Tracker report. The report shows that DRAM revenue for the quarter grew nearly fivefold year-over-year, approaching $200 billion, driven by robust demand for AI accelerators and data centers as well as rising prices. The institution noted that the market is currently in a price-driven super cycle rather than a shipment-driven one: DRAM bit shipments grew only about 4% this quarter, yet revenue has reached roughly five times that of the same period last year. AI has transformed memory from a commodity into a scarce, high-value resource, and buyers are now competing for supply assurance rather than bargaining over price. With prices continuing to climb, suppliers are expected to set new profit records in the coming quarter.
