The three major A-share indices opened sharply lower, with the Shanghai Composite Index down 2.11%, the Shenzhen Component Index down 3.72%, and the ChiNext Index down 4.99%. The optical module and semiconductor sectors suffered steep losses, as "Yi Zhongtian", Lianxun Instruments, and Yuanjie Technology all fell over 10%, while Changxin Technology dropped more than 7%. Bucking the trend, the baijiu and banking sectors strengthened, with Huangtai Liquor and Jinzhongzi Liquor up over 2%, and Bank of Communications gaining more than 1%.
