The European Commission has launched the European Chip Design Platform, with the EU and member states investing €525 million to support a new generation of European chip design companies. The platform offers support in three key areas: providing tool services and manufacturing capabilities, delivering tiered funding support, and offering mentorship through the network of European Chip Competence Centers. Of the total funding, €440 million is allocated as direct public investment grants, while €85 million is designated for building a chip design cloud platform and developing open-source chip design tools. The EU contributes €285 million, with the remaining €240 million coming from CHIPS JU participants.
