On November 4, Saxo Bank analyst Charu Chanana noted that the Democrats' sweeping victory in the US midterm elections has amplified a host of concerns for Asia's tech sector: tougher regulation of Big Tech, stricter oversight of AI, and the possibility of reduced fiscal stimulus. Asian markets have been hit particularly hard, especially in places like Taiwan, China and South Korea, where semiconductor stocks carry significant weight. Chanana observed that while cautious sentiment is rippling through the entire AI supply chain, underlying demand for advanced chips remains robust, and the current market downturn looks more like a recalibration of expectations than a collapse of the AI growth narrative. She advised investors against rushing to buy the dip and suggested distinguishing between two types of companies: those funding AI infrastructure buildout and suppliers of key technologies. Long-term investors, she added, may consider gradually accumulating positions during price weakness.
