October 31 — NVIDIA recently presented a prototype of its next-generation co-packaged optics (CPO) solution, named OOI (Optics-on-Interposer), at SEMICON West 2026 in San Francisco. The company did not disclose a commercialization timeline, stating only that it has obtained prototype samples. Industry observers believe that OOI will not impact the domestic optical communications industry in the short to medium term; NVIDIA's Feynman architecture, slated for launch in 2028, will still adopt the CPO solution, and mass production of OOI is expected after 2030.
