On October 31, foreign media reported that OpenAI founder Sam Altman met with Samsung Group executives in South Korea to discuss deepening collaboration in memory chips and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Samsung said it hosted Altman in Yongin, south of Seoul, and arranged talks with about 50 executives from affiliates including Samsung Electronics, finance, and biotechnology. The two sides focused on how AI will reshape various industries, corporate decision-making, and business opportunities over the next decade. The meeting built on cooperation the two sides had previously announced: Samsung will supply memory chips for OpenAI's "Stargate" infrastructure project and work with OpenAI on AI data centers, including offshore floating data centers. Samsung is also accelerating the use of AI in areas such as R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and corporate operations.
