On October 24, whispers of NVIDIA discontinuing certain consumer-grade graphics card models sent ripples through the computer component market in Huaqiangbei. "I caught wind that the RTX 5090 might be running low, and all of a sudden, the market was abuzz with activity," remarked Xiong Rongrong, the manager of Jinshuoli Computer, who has clocked 16 years of experience in Huaqiangbei. According to her, from September to October, the graphics card segment witnessed the most dramatic shifts in the computer component market, with prices undergoing near-daily fluctuations. The most striking characteristic of this market trend was the swift escalation in prices. Take the high-end consumer-grade RTX 50 series as an illustration: the initial official retail price of the RTX 5090 hovered around RMB 15,000 to 16,000, yet current quotes from channels have skyrocketed to RMB 55,000 to 60,000. Similarly, the RTX 5080, which initially retailed for approximately RMB 8,000, has now surged to RMB 17,000. Xiong Rongrong further disclosed that just half a month ago, the channel price of the RTX 5080 was around RMB 12,000, experiencing a short-term hike of RMB 4,000 to 5,000. Likewise, the RTX 5090, previously priced at around RMB 30,000, has now catapulted into the RMB 50,000 bracket.
