The Linux kernel version 7.3 was officially released on October 18, with updates covering areas such as storage I/O, the AMD Zen 6 processor platform, older AMD graphics cards, video memory management, and game controllers. In terms of storage, the performance of the Btrfs and EXT4 file systems has been significantly improved, with the IOPS for high-speed NVMe devices increasing from 1.92 million to 2.19 million. Regarding hardware support, new identification for AMD low-power cores has been added, unifying the core processing mechanisms for Intel and AMD, and optimizing performance for older hardware. In video memory management, by establishing priority usage rights for foreground game video memory, the issue of game crashes caused by video memory overflow has been effectively alleviated. Additionally, the new version also addresses compatibility issues with firmware for certain Samsung solid-state drives and fixes long-standing, rare system boot failures.
