During the 2026 Open Compute Project Global Summit, AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, presented the forthcoming EPYC processor, named Verano. Slated for a 2027 launch, this processor marks the inaugural EPYC model to incorporate an LPDDR memory interface. Designed specifically for AI server host nodes, it undertakes the critical roles of data and task management, while also facilitating GPU accelerator support. AMD has formally designated the EPYC 9006 LP series as AI host nodes, with the objective of boosting system energy efficiency and maximizing accelerator usage. Verano is built on the Zen6 architecture, supports LPDDR5X memory, and boasts a peak configuration of 72 cores, capable of reaching frequencies up to 5GHz, all housed within the innovative SB1 socket.
