Leaked model numbers for Intel’s upcoming next-generation desktop processor, the Nova Lake-S, have unveiled the inclusion of a ‘BFC’ suffix, which could potentially denote stock keeping units (SKUs) boasting ultra-large cache configurations. According to reports, models bearing the BFC suffix will come equipped with a substantial base last-level cache (bLLC), signaling Intel’s competitive move in response to AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology. The precise significance of the BFC suffix remains unconfirmed by Intel officially; however, based on the leaked details, BFC might stand for ‘Big Flexible Cache.’ This suggests that the cache is not rigidly allocated but can be dynamically adjusted to meet varying workload requirements. Models featuring the BFC suffix are expected to offer higher cache capacities, thereby bolstering performance in gaming and professional applications. The Nova Lake-S series is anticipated to launch in the first quarter of 2027, with its flagship model, the Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC, boasting an impressive 28 cores and a bLLC (large base last-level cache).
