On Thursday, Samsung Electronics—the world's foremost producer of memory chips—released preliminary figures revealing that its operating profit for the third quarter hit a record 107.4 trillion won (around US$80.1 billion). This represents a remarkable 782.5% increase year-on-year, surpassing the 100 trillion won threshold for the first time. The surge was primarily fueled by a significant uptick in demand for artificial intelligence, which drove growth in its chip business. Additionally, the company's revenue climbed by 126.6% in the third quarter, reaching 195 trillion won, while net profit figures are still pending release.
