On October 7, Reuters reported that the labor union representing Micron Technology’s employees in Taoyuan, Taiwan, China, announced it had secured strike authorization. However, obtaining this authorization does not necessarily indicate an immediate cessation of work. The union is set to hold an international press conference in the afternoon to outline its next steps following the acquisition of strike rights. Earlier, negotiations between Micron and the Taoyuan union broke down due to a disagreement over tying performance bonuses to the company’s profits. The union is advocating for the implementation of a profit-sharing mechanism, which would allocate 15% of the company's operating profits to its employees. Despite Micron proposing an alternative compensation plan, both parties have yet to bridge their differences and reach a consensus.
