Linux developer Usama Arif has put forward two patches to the kernel mailing list, with the goal of minimizing request contention within zswap during the process of loading swap pages. Zswap, functioning as a compressed caching mechanism within the Linux kernel, compresses memory pages prior to their being swapped out and temporarily retains them in memory. Should the necessary pages be retrievable from this compressed cache, it diminishes the need for direct access to swap devices, thereby effectively easing disk I/O pressure under conditions of memory constraints.
