The semiconductor industry is bracing for a fresh round of price hikes, as the ever-increasing costs associated with wafer foundry services and backend manufacturing processes place mounting pressure on chip design companies. Based on reports from Taiwanese media, suppliers specializing in power management integrated circuits (ICs), driver ICs, and microcontroller units (MCUs) are gearing up for a second wave of price adjustments. These increases are slated to take effect from late 2026 to early 2027, with anticipated hikes spanning from a modest 5% to potentially reaching double-digit percentages, all in an effort to offset the escalating production expenses.
