On October 5, 2026, Huawei and Qualcomm jointly declared the successful conclusion of a comprehensive, multi-year patent licensing pact. This agreement spans a wide array of technological domains, encompassing 5G, computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and networking. Under the terms of this agreement, both parties will engage in cross-licensing of their respective patent portfolios. Specifically, Qualcomm will make patent licensing fee payments to Huawei and, in turn, acquire several US patents from Huawei in the fields of computing, AI, and networking. Once the transaction is fully executed, the cumulative value of Huawei's patent licensing agreements is projected to surpass $6.9 billion, marking a significant milestone in the company's intellectual property monetization efforts.
