Recently, seven key departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission, jointly unveiled the '15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the New Battery Industry.' This plan sets forth an ambitious goal: by 2030, all-solid-state batteries are expected to achieve initial large-scale commercialization. All-solid-state batteries are heralded as the linchpin for transforming the lithium battery industry, with projections indicating that they will enter a critical window for small-scale integration into passenger vehicles between 2027 and 2028. Beyond the automotive sector, emerging applications such as humanoid robots and low-altitude aircraft are also poised to become significant markets for solid-state battery deployment.
The mass production of all-solid-state batteries on a large scale necessitates synchronized breakthroughs across materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes. Specialized equipment, notably warm isostatic pressing, plays a pivotal role in addressing the challenge of solid-solid interface contact, a critical factor in battery performance. Equipment manufacturers, including Liyuanheng and Lead Intelligent, have already made notable strides, achieving shipments of relevant equipment to support this burgeoning industry.
