Propelled by the industry's self-regulation efforts and the introduction of three new national standards concerning energy consumption and efficiency, the market price of polysilicon has witnessed a notable rebound. After a hiatus of nearly two months, the Silicon Industry Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association has once again published the weekly transaction prices for polysilicon. The average transaction prices for both n-type recharged polysilicon and n-type granular polysilicon have now surpassed the 40,000 yuan per ton mark, marking an approximate increase of 10,000 yuan per ton from the levels recorded at the end of July.
The reporter has gathered that expectations of a contraction in supply are the main driving force behind this round of price hikes. At present, downstream enterprises are mainly focusing on essential procurement and moderate inventory replenishment, with no signs of large-scale centralized procurement yet. Industry experts opine that the extent of production cuts, the sustainability of spot transactions, and the extent of recovery in terminal demand will be the pivotal factors shaping future price trends.
