Naga Chandrasekaran, Chief Technology and Operations Officer of Intel's foundry business, recently disclosed to investment bank KeyBanc that the overall performance of Intel's 14A process under development is expected to differ by no more than 5% from TSMC's A14. This statement has drawn significant attention to the competition between the two companies in the cutting-edge 1.4-nanometer process. As planned, both sides are set to engage in direct competition in this field around 2028. However, Chandrasekaran did not specify whether the 5% gap represents Intel 14A leading or lagging behind, meaning it could be 5% faster or 5% slower than TSMC's A14.
