On September 24th, Meta unveiled a small handheld device named 'Meta Charm' on Thursday, which will run Meta's new Muse AI assistant. This move has spurred market demand for key computer components, leading to a significant surge in CPU-related stocks and driving the Nikkei 225 index higher. By the midday break, the Nikkei index had risen by 1.33%, while the Topix index edged up by 0.12%. Kazuaki Shimada, chief strategist at IwaiCosmo Securities, noted that the news had boosted the share prices of other CPU-related companies, with Socionext, Meiko Electronic, and Ushio Inc all surging more than 10%. Chip testing equipment manufacturer Advantest rose by 4%, and SoftBank Group inched up by 0.52%. The strategist also mentioned that chip-related stocks have recently tended to withstand the impact of rising yields.
