The court determined that Micron had infringed upon two of YMTC's German utility model patents and issued an injunction mandating Micron to halt the sale of the relevant infringing products in Germany. This milestone represents YMTC's first substantive injunction victory on the global stage since the full-fledged eruption of the patent conflict between the two companies in November 2023.

On that same day, the court also conducted hearings for three additional related lawsuits initiated by YMTC against Micron and decided to postpone the proceedings. Micron expressed disagreement with the judgment, promptly filed an appeal, and is contesting the validity of the pertinent patent rights. Legal experts have pointed out that the actual implementation of the injunction may hinge on whether the Munich Higher Regional Court decides to suspend enforcement during the appeal process.

The global patent dispute between the two parties concerning 3D NAND technology has persisted for nearly three years, with litigation extending across multiple countries and regions. Market data reveals that in the first quarter of 2026, YMTC secured the third position among global NAND Flash manufacturers in terms of both sales revenue and shipment volume. As of March 31, 2026, its parent company, Yangtze Memory Holdings, possessed 6,088 authorized patents, encompassing over 2,000 invention patents related to the Xtacking architecture.
