On September 21, analysts from Goldman Sachs highlighted that the burgeoning chip industry is poised to channel substantial cash inflows into South Korean companies. Notably, the magnitude of overseas earnings repatriation by these firms is anticipated to emerge as a pivotal factor influencing the trajectory of South Korea's domestic financial landscape.

The analyst team, led by Irene Choi, projected in a research report that by 2026, the net cash reserves of South Korean semiconductor companies are expected to soar to approximately KRW 150 trillion, constituting 4.9% of the nation's GDP. Furthermore, this proportion is forecasted to escalate to 9.3% by 2027. Historical trends reveal that, on average, companies repatriate roughly 60% of the profits generated by their overseas subsidiaries back to their home country. Analysts anticipate that, by 2027, the combined wage and dividend disbursements from major chip companies will account for a record-high 5.2% of South Korea's GDP.
