Intel has officially discontinued its long-standing vulnerability bounty program and, in its place, initiated a new non-monetary vulnerability reporting mechanism via the Intigriti platform. The former program, which commenced in 2017 and was opened up to all researchers the following year in 2018, proved to be highly effective, boasting a top-tier reward of up to $100,000. The abrupt termination of the bounty program has come as a shock to the industry, with Intel yet to provide an official explanation. Industry experts speculate that this move may be attributed to the advent of AI, which has precipitated a surge in vulnerability reports, leading to an overwhelming influx of low-quality submissions. Consequently, Intel has taken steps to manage the overall volume of reports. At present, researchers reporting vulnerabilities related to Intel will no longer be eligible for monetary compensation.
