Recently, an overseas consumer reported purchasing what was purported to be an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor—priced at nearly $500 (equivalent to approximately RMB 3,348)—from a local Walmart outlet. However, upon unboxing and attempting to install it, the user discovered that the system failed to boot. After thorough investigation, it was confirmed that the purchased item was, in fact, a counterfeit CPU. It's worth noting that the user already owned a legitimate 9800X3D processor. However, due to malfunctions in the original processor's integrated memory controller, they opted to purchase a replacement. During the transaction, a Walmart staff member retrieved a sealed retail box from the display shelf in full view of the customer. The packaging appeared genuine and intact at first glance.
