On September 17, during the Huawei Full Connect Conference 2026, Huawei's Rotating Chairman, Wang Tao, made a significant announcement: the Ascend 960 chip is not only prepared ahead of schedule but also boasts double the performance of its predecessors. Specifically, the Ascend 960DT variant is slated for release in the first quarter of 2027, marking a three-quarter acceleration from the initial timeline. Meanwhile, the Ascend 960PR is expected to hit the market in the third quarter of 2027, a quarter earlier than originally planned. Looking ahead, Huawei is committed to maintaining an annual evolution trajectory, with the Ascend 970 scheduled for unveiling in 2028 and the Ascend 980 in 2029.
