A banking consortium, comprising 10 financial institutions, is set to provide a substantial chip loan of $22 billion to both Blackstone Group and Crux AI. Crux AI is a newly established cloud-based enterprise operating under the umbrella of Alphabet. The funds from this loan will be specifically allocated for the procurement of Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), which are high-performance chips manufactured by Google. To secure this loan, the chips themselves, along with the customer contracts of Crux AI, will serve as collateral. Presently, the consortium is actively engaging additional lenders through a syndication process, aiming to distribute and mitigate potential risks among a broader pool of participants.
