John Lee Ka-chiu, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), unveiled the First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the HKSAR (2026–2030). He emphasized that Hong Kong will proactively drive the establishment of its inaugural national manufacturing innovation center. By capitalizing on its unique advantages, Hong Kong aims to aggregate resources from both domestic and international arenas, thereby aiding the nation in securing a preeminent position in the strategically vital power semiconductor sector. Building upon its established foundation, the Microelectronics Research and Development Institute will take the helm in operating this innovation center at the Microelectronics Center Building, with the official launch slated for 2027.
