China’s memory chip sector is ramping up efforts to narrow the technological divide with the world’s leading chipmakers. Based on the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association’s latest analysis, two of China’s top memory chip producers—Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) and ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT)—have made notable strides in key technologies. The technological gap has shrunk to roughly one year for NAND flash memory, about two years for DRAM, and approximately three years for high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
