On September 15th, reports surfaced indicating that Apple has agreed to the memory chip prices set by Samsung Electronics for the first quarter of 2027. The pricing includes DRAM at approximately $2.0 per Gb and NAND flash memory at around $0.33 per Gb, marking a significant 30%-40% increase from the prices in the third quarter of this year. According to sources within the industry chain, the production capacities for DRAM and HBM in 2027 for the three leading manufacturers—Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron—have already been largely allocated. Additionally, NAND flash memory production capacity is anticipated to be fully secured by the end of August. Consequently, despite a continued contraction in demand for mobile memory, manufacturers are persistently cutting back on orders for consumer-grade memory, thereby further tightening supply in the consumer market. Apple's agreement to these prices will not only affect its own costs but also reduce the room for negotiation for Android manufacturers. In the long run, the current tight supply-demand scenario is not expected to ease anytime soon and is projected to persist until the first half of 2028.
