At the 19th MSU World Video Encoder Competition, Taotian’s self-developed S266 series encoder delivered a stellar performance, clinching six world championships and one third-place finish. Notably, the S266 encoder dominated all speed categories in VMAF (Video Multimethod Assessment Fusion), while the S26X swept the top three spots in extreme image quality, achieving dual leadership in both speed and image quality during the H.266 era. The team has independently developed numerous algorithms that enhance compression efficiency and encoding speed. These innovative achievements have been featured in leading conferences and journals, with the team also pioneering cutting-edge research in generative encoding.

Currently, Taotian’s encoder is deployed in core scenarios on Taobao, supporting hundreds of millions of daily video plays. This implementation effectively reduces bandwidth costs while elevating the user experience. The technology is also compatible with advanced formats such as 8K HDR, 3D, and VR. Furthermore, the team has established a robust image and video quality evaluation system, led the drafting of related national standard proposals, and achieved remarkable results in video enhancement, earning multiple international accolades. Relevant algorithms are now widely applied across Taobao’s business operations.

The team prioritizes technological innovation and practical implementation, operating a postdoctoral workstation to continuously strengthen cutting-edge R&D and talent development.
