Globally, Mac devices have become essential tools for AI development and operation, with sales of the Mac mini and Mac Studio continuing to rise. In response, Apple has moved up the release of its Mac product line, originally planned for fall 2026, to August 25, with shipping to begin on September 22. To meet the high-performance computing needs of enterprise users, Apple has introduced its first M6 chip built on a 2nm process, designed specifically for the Mac mini. This chip offers up to 4x higher AI computing power compared to the M4 chip, doubled graphics performance, and a peak AI computing power increase of up to 100% over the previous generation. In real-world tests, the Mac mini equipped with the M6 chip demonstrated up to 13.5x faster speeds in large language model processing scenarios compared to the M1 chip, and up to 4.8x faster than the M4 chip. Meanwhile, the clustering capabilities of the Mac Studio have also been enhanced, with a cluster of 4 devices achieving AI inference speeds up to 3x that of a single device. The new models feature up to 6 Thunderbolt 5 ports and, for the first time, support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 technologies. In terms of market demand, OpenAI has already purchased tens of thousands of Mac devices, while Anthropic has rented computing power resources from the Mac mini. According to statistics, Apple's Mac business saw a 29% year-over-year growth in the third quarter of 2026, with extended delivery times for high-configuration models. The booming development of AI is increasingly blurring the lines between consumer electronics and professional computing devices.
