On August 31st, it was reported that Feinan Resources has officially initiated mass production in its 4N7 refined indium technological transformation project, successfully yielding the inaugural batch of high-quality indium ingots boasting a remarkable purity of 99.997%. The refinement process for high-purity indium presents significant technical hurdles, and only a handful of domestic enterprises have managed to achieve stable, large-scale production.
With the burgeoning development of artificial intelligence, there has been a substantial surge in demand for high-speed optical modules, thereby making indium phosphide substrates indispensable to the industry. Presently, amidst the declining grades of global indium ore and escalating mining costs, indium prices have witnessed a near-doubling, soaring from approximately 2,500 yuan/kg in 2023 to around 5,300 yuan/kg by August 2026 over the span of three years.
