The latest iteration of DLSS 5 technology, which is yet to be officially rolled out by NVIDIA, has recently fallen prey to a hack carried out by independent developers. Originally, the core neural rendering feature of DLSS 5 was destined to be exclusive to the Blackwell architecture of the RTX 50 series. However, this cutting-edge capability can now be harnessed on RTX 40 series graphics cards. The origins of this hack can be traced back to the leak of installation files for the early access version of NBA 2K27. These files included the nvngx_dlssnr.dll dynamic link library, which inadvertently exposed the inner workings of DLSS 5—namely, its NR neural rendering technology.
