On August 31, to meet the growing demand in the artificial intelligence sector and control production costs, SK Hynix is studying the feasibility of producing memory chips in Japan through a joint venture. SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, while attending a meeting of members from the business chambers of South Korea and Japan in Sendai, revealed that the company is considering multiple locations for building a factory jointly operated by both parties. He stated that the potential sites span various regions across Japan, as long as there is an adequate supply of electricity and water resources. When asked about potential partners or specific locations, Choi Tae-won declined to provide further details. SK Group has a wide range of businesses, covering energy, telecommunications, chips, and other fields, and is responsible for allocating major investment funds within the group.
