On August 28 local time, Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) announced that it has established hardware as a core investment focus and raised $1.1 billion for its Machinery Era Fund. The fund will invest in the computer infrastructure required for AI operations, covering chips, memory, networking, storage, as well as complete systems ranging from data centers to robotics and home AI devices. It is reported that a16z has recently invested in several hardware companies, including Unconventional AI, Nexthop, Volta, Atoms, and Mind Robotics.
