On August 27, the Hong Kong stock market displayed a seesaw performance during the morning trading session, with the Hang Seng Index and the Hang Seng Tech Index moving in opposite directions. By midday, the Hang Seng Index had seen a decline of 0.42%, in contrast to the Hang Seng Tech Index, which posted a gain of 0.19%. In the sectoral analysis, chip stocks emerged as strong performers in the morning, with Montage Technology (06809.HK) surging by more than 10%, GigaDevice (03986.HK) climbing nearly 7%, Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347.HK) advancing over 4%, and SMIC (00981.HK) increasing by almost 3%. On the flip side, automotive stocks lagged, with BAIC Motor (01958.HK) tumbling over 5% in the morning, XPeng Inc. (09868.HK) dropping more than 3%, and NIO-SW (09866.HK) slipping 2.68%. Moreover, Zhipu (02513.HK) opened on a strong note and continued its upward trajectory in early trading, surging over 10% at one stage and finishing the morning session 8.93% higher.
