Recently, Amazon has implemented price increases across several hardware products. Notably, the entry-level model of its Echo series smart speakers has witnessed the most significant hike, jumping from $49.99 to $79.99, marking an approximate 60% surge. Similarly, the base 16GB e-book reader model has risen from $109.99 to $149.99, reflecting an increase of about 36%. Prior to this, tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, and Dell had already reacted to mounting cost pressures by either raising prices or trimming down the standard memory configurations of their hardware offerings. Market research firm IDC has issued a cautionary note, stating that the global memory shortage might extend until 2027, while industry prognostications suggest that memory chip prices will commence a gradual decline after reaching their zenith in 2028.
