On August 26, Citigroup forecasted that South Korean companies would achieve a record high in issuance scale in the global bond and equity markets by 2026. Currently, South Korean companies are actively raising growth capital through international investors, with SK Hynix's $26.5 billion fundraising through a U.S. listing particularly noteworthy. Jangho Park, CEO of Citi Global Markets Korea, pointed out on Wednesday that South Korea is home to numerous 'world-class companies and emerging industry leaders, who are leveraging capital markets under highly competitive financing conditions to raise funds for their growth.' This optimistic forecast from Citi comes as South Korea's two major chipmakers emerge as primary beneficiaries of global AI infrastructure development. Currently, South Korea is pushing companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to invest at least KRW 1,350 trillion (approximately $975 billion) in chip and data center construction, although many of these projects are still in the early planning stages.
