Micron is steadily winding down its presence in the consumer SSD and memory sector, sparking worries among consumers regarding the warranty support for its Crucial brand. Recently, a customer encountered issues with their Crucial X9 4TB portable SSD and initiated an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) after-sales service request due to the product's malfunction. Initially, Micron declined to replace the unit with the same model, stating that their stock was exhausted, and instead proposed a refund of $199.99. Given that the prevailing market price for this SSD variant had surged to $579, the customer turned down the refund offer and persisted in demanding a replacement. In the end, Micron consented to furnish a 'one-for-one direct replacement' service.
