On August 26, the Information Office of the State Council convened a press conference centered on the theme of “Initiating the 15th Five-Year Plan”. Relevant officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology elaborated on the execution of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the strides made in advancing new-type industrialization. During the conference, it was underscored that the industrial framework will undergo refinement, with a concerted push towards upgrading traditional industries, fostering the expansion of emerging sectors, and strategically planning for future industries to uphold and enhance a comprehensive industrial ecosystem. Concurrently, there will be a concerted effort to hasten the development of emerging pillar industries, including integrated circuits, aerospace, and biomedicine. Furthermore, the aim is to propel future industries—such as quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen and nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence, and 6G—into becoming the new drivers of economic growth.
