On August 22, news surfaced that Elon Musk's SpaceX is in the process of hiring a trader to establish and head a natural gas trading division. This move aims to cater to the company's escalating fuel and electricity needs. The job description specifies that the position will involve both physical and financial aspects of natural gas trading, underscoring the significance of fuel for power generation and manufacturing processes. This, in turn, will bolster SpaceX's endeavors in chip production and space exploration. Earlier in the month, SpaceX unveiled its intention to construct its own gas-fired power plant. This facility is intended to supply electricity to a substantial semiconductor manufacturing plant that SpaceX is jointly developing with Tesla in Texas. The burgeoning electricity demand from data centers and emerging factories has spurred market interest in new gas-fired power plants. Musk has long been a proponent of a vertically integrated business model. It's worth noting that SpaceX's colossal "Starship" rocket utilizes ultra-low-temperature processed methane as its propellant. Methane, the principal constituent of natural gas, is employed in conjunction with liquid oxygen.
