According to reports, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to allocate an additional JPY 150 billion in the budget request for fiscal year 2027 to invest in semiconductor manufacturer Rapidus. Combined with the previously announced JPY 250 billion allocation, the Japanese government's cumulative support for Rapidus will reach JPY 400 billion. Rapidus is advancing its research and development and mass production plans for 2-nanometer process chips.
