The board of directors of MediaTek has approved a discretionary financing budget of US$5 billion to support the company's long-term growth, particularly in expanding its data center AI chip business. Company CEO Rick Tsai revealed that MediaTek has successfully developed its first custom AI chip, with mass production expected in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, the mass production plan for the second chip is also progressing steadily, with an expected realization in 2028.
