On July 31, Huang Chongren, Chairman of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation—a prominent wafer foundry—passed away at the age of 77. He often referred to himself as the most seasoned DRAM CEO globally, having weathered numerous peaks and troughs in the memory industry firsthand. Under Huang’s leadership, Powerchip successfully transitioned from a DRAM manufacturer to a wafer foundry, underwent organizational and capital restructuring, settled NT$120 billion in debt, and achieved the relisting of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation.
