As per reports, the lead times for the flagship products of the five leading equipment suppliers—Applied Materials, ASML, Lam Research, Tokyo Electron, and KLA—have stretched to 1.5 to 2 times their initial timeframes. Equipment that could previously be procured within 6 months now demands a waiting period of roughly one year post-order placement. This elongation of lead times is not confined to these five industry behemoths; South Korean domestic equipment manufacturers are feeling the pinch as well. One South Korean firm, which supplies front-end and back-end equipment to TSMC and Micron, has witnessed its lead times surge from 3 to 4 months to 6 to 8 months. Similarly, another company that provides back-end equipment to Micron has also seen its lead times expand to approximately 1.5 times their original lengths.
