AMD Poised to Extend Zen Architecture to Zen 7 on AM5 Platform, with AM6 Set to Launch with Zen 8

At the "Advancing AI 2026" conference, AMD unveiled its plans for two upcoming generations of processor architectures: Zen 7 and Zen 8, providing a glimpse into its long-term roadmap for desktop CPUs. Since the introduction of the AM5 desktop platform in 2022, AMD has successively launched the Ryzen 7000 series, Ryzen 8000G series, and Ryzen 9000 series processors. According to the roadmap, AMD plans to roll out its next-generation EPYC server CPUs based on the Zen 7 microarchitecture in 2028, featuring various models such as "Florence." By 2030, the Zen 8 microarchitecture will debut with the "Ravenna" model. On the GPU front, AMD is set to launch the MI500 series in 2027, followed by the MI600 series in 2028.
