Memory prices in the consumer market are continuing their upward trajectory, with data from Germany’s memory price survey indicating that DDR5 memory prices soared to a new peak in July. According to a report from 3D Center, the average price of various DDR5 desktop memory kits in Germany surged by 448% compared to July 2025, marking a month-on-month increase of 7.1%. On a global scale, memory prices have experienced a significant upswing: the price of 16GB DDR5 memory has risen from 450 yuan to 1800 yuan, representing a 300% increase, while 32GB DDR5 memory has jumped from 900 yuan to 3800 yuan, a 322% surge. This latest round of price hikes has been primarily driven by a sharp increase in demand for AI computing power. In response, wafer fabrication plants have redirected their production capacity towards high-margin products, resulting in supply constraints for mid- to low-end components. Although some markets have witnessed slight price relaxations, the overall trend of high prices is anticipated to persist until the end of 2027 and may even extend into 2028.
