A research team helmed by Dr. Liu Qi from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has introduced a groundbreaking approach to the molecular design of cathode materials. This approach transitions from a 'single anion' model to a 'composite anion' framework, aiming to develop cost-effective and highly secure sodium-ion batteries. Remarkably, the team has, for the first time, successfully integrated sulfate and pyrophosphate groups within a single lattice structure. This integration facilitates the harmonious combination of high voltage and structural stability by constructing a three-dimensional open framework, a significant advancement in the field.
