Apple is recalibrating its chip development roadmap by scrapping the previously planned releases of the M6 Pro, M6 Max, and M6 Ultra chips. Instead, the tech giant is redirecting its resources toward accelerating the development of the M7 series chips. The M7 lineup, which is projected to debut in 2027, will include the M7, M7 Pro, M7 Max, and the high-end M7 Ultra. Notably, the M7 Ultra is specifically designed for workstation-grade devices and is rumored to leverage TSMC’s cutting-edge 1.4nm manufacturing process, with mass production slated for 2028. This strategic pivot underscores Apple’s commitment to bolstering on-device AI processing capabilities, ensuring its devices can seamlessly handle the escalating demands of advanced AI functionalities in the years ahead.
