Memory prices have witnessed a steady increase for nearly a year, significantly boosting the profits of the three major memory industry leaders: Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. UBS has conducted an in-depth analysis, projecting the revenue and profits of Samsung and SK Hynix from 2026 to 2029. Under favorable market conditions, Samsung's operating profit is anticipated to soar to approximately 441 trillion Korean won in 2026, surge to 837 trillion won in 2027, peak at 902 trillion won in 2028, before experiencing a slight dip to 632 trillion won in 2029. This would accumulate to a staggering total of around 2,813 trillion won over the four-year span.
Furthermore, when extending the timeframe to include the second half of 2025 through to 2030, and factoring in peak prices during 2027-2028 followed by a profit decline in 2030, the estimated profit over the five-year period is approximately 3,500 trillion won, equivalent to roughly 15 trillion yuan. SK Hynix, on the other hand, is projected to achieve a five-year profit of around 2,500 trillion won, approximately 11 trillion yuan. Micron's five-year profit is estimated to reach approximately 8 trillion yuan.
Taking into account these optimistic projections, the three major manufacturers are expected to collectively earn 35 trillion yuan from the market over the five-year period. In a less favorable scenario, their combined profits could amount to around 25 trillion yuan, while a middle-ground estimate places their profits at 30 trillion yuan.
