On July 3, a report from South Korean media revealed that Samsung Electronics is fast becoming the key production hub for AI chips (ASICs) that are developed in-house by tech behemoths like Tesla, Anthropic, and Meta. The company's long-term backlog orders are projected to reach nearly 50 trillion won (around RMB 221.5 billion). Notably, Meta is partnering with Samsung to push forward the design and manufacturing of next-generation ASICs, an endeavor valued at over 10 trillion won. The plan is to mass-produce hundreds of thousands of chipsets utilizing a 2-nanometer process. In the meantime, Anthropic is also considering leveraging Samsung's 2-nanometer process for its chip development projects.
